However, there are frequent problems of poor-quality pet food in the market.
According to the investigation by China National Radio reporters, a large amount of poor-quality pet food flows into the market every day. The ingredient list of pet food can be written freely, and the composition list can be written however it looks. The entire packaging bag only has the net content as the true information. Some unscrupulous manufacturers, in pursuit of higher profit margins, are willing to use the most inferior raw materials to produce pet food, and even add "stone powder" and "feather powder" in large quantities, which poses a threat to the health of pets. Even some practitioners admitted: "Making the most inferior things into the most expensive food - this is the hidden rule of this industry." China National Radio reporters stated that the fierce price competition in the industry is becoming increasingly intense, while some practitioners are still trapped in the short-sighted behavior of maximizing profits. Some enterprises are willing to sacrifice the health of pets to gain the maximum benefits, seriously disrupting the market order and damaging the rights and interests of consumers, as well as showing great disregard for the lives and health of pets.

At 7 p.m. on March 15th, the Hebei Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs urgently held a video scheduling meeting for pet feed work throughout the province and launched an investigation into the involved enterprises;
On March 16th, the Hebei Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs officially responded, sealed the involved enterprises, and took samples of the enterprise's products. Next, Hebei Province will conduct a special campaign to rectify pet feed throughout the province. The southern Heng area of Xingtai City will be inspected by the municipal and provincial levels, and other cities will conduct self-inspections followed by regular spot checks by the provincial government;
On March 17th, the Hebei Pet Industry Association and the Xingtai Pet Industry Association issued the "Call for Ensuring Product Quality and Regulating Production and Business Operations", and pointed out: The association will establish a supervision mechanism and an integrity system for members, and member enterprises must sign a product quality guarantee letter. Pet food production member enterprises must provide regular live animal practical test data and voluntarily accept supervision from government, association, etc.
At the same time, the association will cooperate with provincial and municipal government departments and third-party testing companies. On the one hand, it will conduct regular and irregular inspections of the raw materials and products of member enterprises before leaving the factory, and on the other hand, it will conduct sampling inspections of market commodities (including online shopping), strengthen comprehensive supervision.
